Every piece of cloth begins with a single thread.
First Thread was the collection that shaped the foundations of 3105 and continues to inform how we approach design today. Built around hand-spun and handwoven fabrics, the collection explored the relationship between material, craft, and everyday wear. From the outset, fabric became the starting point.
The texture, irregularity, and character of handwoven textiles informed each silhouette, resulting in pieces that felt grounded in the making process.
As the collection developed, handcrafted details emerged naturally as defining elements. Pin tucks, smocking, and blanket stitch were incorporated not as decoration, but as a reflection of the hands and techniques behind each garment. These details remain central to the visual language of 3105.
Material choices extended beyond the fabric itself. Natural coconut buttons were selected throughout the collection, complementing the tactile quality of the textiles and reinforcing a preference for thoughtful, honest materials.

The colour palette drew inspiration from journeys across India and places that continue to influence our perspective. The weathered stone and muted tones of Udaipur, the riverbanks and layered textures of Varanasi, the quiet warmth of Ujjain, and the everyday contrasts of Delhi all found their way into the collection in subtle ways.
Looking back, First Thread was more than our first collection. It established many of the principles that continue to guide 3105 today, an emphasis on natural materials, handcrafted details, considered design, and a deep appreciation for the people and processes behind what we wear.
